The New Microwave Mentality-quickchm

Self-Improvement There is a new mentality in the industrialized world which I call the microwave mentality. It is a result of the information age and will only grow with industrialization. I call it the microwave mentality. We want everything quickly in this day and age because there is such an abundance of information available to us. We want fast food, high speed internet, fast cars, minute rice, instant grits, etc. We have access to so much information now that the quantity is mind boggling. Fifty years ago the average person never even traveled outside of their home state during their lifetime. Now I can get on my .puter and look at places all over the world. I can get in my automobile and be in the next state in about two hours. The same trip in a horse and buggy in the late 1800s would have taken about four days. I can see this mentality in the way that customers and people interact these days. Interaction seems to be superficial with no pretense of intimacy. I run a small business and the thing these days is to always get the name of the person who you have talked to. Customers will attempt to make me answer questions for them that they know are dubious and then ask me for my name. The thing nowadays is to call and report if you dont get your way. Whatever happened to the days when a persons word was their bond and was just as good as a signed legal document. Speaking of signed legal documents they arent even very good anymore. Contracts are designed solely to screw the other party over if they dont perform exactly as you want them to. Big businesses will take illegal advantage of smaller businesses because they know that the small business dont have the financial resources to hire a lawyer to fight them in court. If the small business owner attempts to stand up for his rights the big business will drag the case out in court until he has spent all of his finances. I like to look at the older cowboy movies and there was one thing which was true of the frontier. When a traveler came to a farm or settlement the homeowner always allowed him to water his horse, eat supper and rest for the night if necessary. We just dont have that mentality anymore. Marriage used to be a life or death, richer or poorer proposition. Now divorce is too easy of an option. Many people get married with the idea of getting divorced if it doesnt work out. Marriage is often done out of convenience rather than for love. The spoken vows are no more than words uttered to seal a deal now. The biggest reason that our divorce rate is skyrocketing is that social mores and values have changed dramatically in just the last few years. I know that things which were considered totally unacceptable when I was a child and even a teenager are perfectly fine now. Television has changed dramatically. When we did have a biblical moral standard things were kept in line. Some may beg to differ with me but the truth is just the truth. As we began to remove God from the picture things began to go south. There is very little morality expressed on the TV, and in the music industry. In all of the episodes of Gunsmoke that I have watched over the years, I have never seen Marshall Dillion and Miss Kitty kiss or even hold hands even though they were an item. The show was just a good clean production, and it was interesting The Good Life 相关的主题文章:
